More than 30 people have died in an accident at the Raspadskaya mine in Siberia’s Kemerovo region, says the Russian Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu, in charge of the ongoing search and rescue effort. Nothing is known of the 60 people that are still in the mine. Two blasts tore through Russia’s biggest coal mine at the depth of 500 metres on Saturday and Sunday. 59 miners are reported injured. 57 of them have been rushed to hospital, while the six worst-injured are due to be taken to Moscow for medical treatment. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin ordered the payment of one million roubles in relief money to each of the died miners' families.
